Westerley is situated on The Broadway which is the tree-lined road leading through Woodhall Spa.
Woodhall Spa is a large, delightful village on the Southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It is built in and surrounded by trees which shelter it from East coast winds. Woodhall Spa is midway between Lincoln, with its lovely old Cathedral, Roman ruins and modern shopping centre and Boston, an attractive market town. Skegness and the East Coast are only a short journey away. |
All residents enjoy the freedoms and civil liberties associated with living as normal citizens in the community. They are actively encouraged to pursue their own interests and hobbies, both within the home and in the wider community in which their home is situated. Since the Homes are Christian Homes, residents are encouraged to share in daily family prayers, where possible, but this is not obligatory. These prayers are held each weekday in the mornings and Holy Communion is celebrated monthly.
Residents may have their own telephones fitted in their rooms and all rooms are equipped with a TV aerial socket.
Each room is fitted with a call bell to enable residents to summon a member of staff should the need arise and all rooms are equipped to recognised standards for disabled residents.
On the ground floor there is a spacious dining room and two lounges, one of which has television facilities and the other with hi-fi and books. The lounges are fitted with a loop system for the hard of hearing. An attractive garden lounge was added in the recent refurbishment.
There are extensive, sheltered gardens, offering the opportunity for relaxation and lawn games. For the keen gardener there is a greenhouse for Residents´ use.
The establishment has its own 15 seater minibus with tail lift and space to accommodate wheelchairs. Various regular outings are organised for any resident wishing to take part. Regular evening entertainments are also held in the Home.
The Home and village are situated on level ground, ideal for elderly people. There are two battery operated scooters for those residents who find walking difficult.
The Home is close to the local Methodist Church which has small but newly refurbished buildings, modern seating and a loop system. Westerley has a very close relationship with the local church and is deeply involved in its life.
