Lectionary Thoughts for Proper 29
This, very mixed, collection of ideas are the result of looking at the Lectionary readings and noting the thoughts that 'popped' into my mind. I have, very deliberately, not tried to 'polish' them in any way, mainly because I lack the finesse necessary.

Proper 29A
Ezekiel 34: 11 — 16, 20 — 24
God has made full provision for us,
God says ”I myself shall tend my flock•.
We thank you, Lord, for your provision,
On you we rely, firm as a rock.
God says to us ”Treat each one fairly•
”Do not bully, nor exploit the weak•.
We need God‘s guidance to live fully;
To live like this, God‘s Spirit we seek.
God is the Father who has made us,
Jesus, our brother, God‘s saving Son.
The Holy Spirit powers our lives,
Helping our praise to the Three in One.
Proper 29 A
Psalm 95: 1 — 7a
Praise God for his wonderful work in creation;
The whole universe has been made for our life.
Praise to Jesus, for through him we have salvation.
Thanks to the Spirit who saves is from sin‘s strife.
To praise God we worship in truth and in spirit.
To praise god we have come with love in our hearts.
Our worship we offer to God without limit;
True worship demands that we use all our parts.
Proper 29 A
Ephesians 1: 15 — 23
Open, Lord, our inward eyes
That we may see your hope;
And receive our heartfelt cries
That with sin we can cope.
Jesus is our friend today,
In our daily living.
For his words their comfort say
Strength and joy their giving.
Thanks to God for those who have
Gone before us in faith.
Thanks to god for those who still
Help us along in faith.
For we are one family
Each together loving.
This makes for our unity
And all fear removing.
Proper 29 A
Matthew 25: 31 — 46
All we did, Lord, was just to serve our neighbour;
There was no thought of profit or reward.
Sometimes it did not even seem a labour,
Simply obedience to your loving word.
Now, Lord, you say to us that we have served you
E‘en in your person through our simple deeds.
We would in all things, to you, try to be true
Thus help our neighbours in their daily needs.
